HJF is seeking a Research Analyst to support the Data Coordinating and Analysis Center (DCAC) for the Military HIV Research Program (MHRP) and the Emerging Infectious Diseases Branch (EIDB) of the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR) at the MHRP Office in Bethesda, Maryland. HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to the DCAC and MHRP. 

The incumbent provides epidemiological, computer programming, biostatistical and laboratory procedure support for a specified project.

Responsibilities:

  1. Initiates, designs, and implements epidemiological studies supporting the research project.
  2. Portfolio management including proposal review and project evaluation.
  3. Reviews project proposals and periodic reports with respect to design, analytic approach, and/or reporting.
  4. Provides ongoing evaluation of projects including occasional site visits.
  5. Provides epidemiologic support to internal working groups.
  6. Assists in the development of periodic reports, internal guidelines and protocols.
  7. May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge and ability to use and teach complex epidemiologic research methods for assessing the risk of disease in humans due to potential risk factors; advanced knowledge in statistical programming with experience with advanced multivariate statistical methods; knowledge of statistical and mathematical software including SAS, Stata and/or R; experience in HIV, emerging infectious diseases (EID), and/or clinical trials research; excellent written and oral communication skills.

Minimum Education: Master’s degree required. 

Minimum Experience/ Training Requirements: 3-5 years of relevant experience required.
