HJF is seeking a Research Analyst to support the African Cohort Study (AFRICOS) within the U.S. Military Research Program (MHRP) located at the MHRP Office in Bethesda, Maryland. HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to MHRP.
Responsibilities are to provide biostatistical support for clinical and/or laboratory research. This involves performing statistical analysis on data collected from clinical trials and/or research studies. This ongoing prospective cohort study follows HIV-infected and HIV-uninfected participants who are engaged in care at clinical sites in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Nigeria. Under the supervision of the Director of the MHRP Data Coordinating and Analysis Center (DCAC), the incumbent will: work closely with Principal Investigators (PIs) and Study Chairs, with a focus on AFRICOS; be responsible for the coordination of data across the participating research sites; regularly review data for completion and accuracy; and, communicate with participating sites to improve data integrity. The incumbent will be responsible for generating reports that summarize research data for presentation to collaborators, funders, and other entities. The incumbent will provide support to additional research projects as directed.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of data management and biostatistical methods; proficiency in data analyses using statistical tools such as SAS, Stata, and GraphPad Prism; experience in the analysis of clinical cohort data; familiarity with medical science and clinical research, ideally with experience in HIV-related research; ability to communicate effectively; excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Statistics or related field. Master’s degree in biostatistics, epidemiology, statistics or a related field preferred.
Minimum Experience/ Training Requirements: 4 to 6 years’ experience; Or Master’s degree with 0-2 years of experience. Experience in the field of HIV research preferred.
Physical Capabilities: Extended periods of sitting.
Work Environment: Office or laboratory environment.
